Topic: Image Upload stopped working Posted: 11 November 2007 at 9:59pm |
Hello:
I am using RTE 3.0 with the Dundas upload software. I've just discovered that my webserver won't allow users to upload images. It tells me that the files have to uploaded to virtual memory first.
My website it an internal site, and anonymous access has been disabled. Therefore, I've given "Domain Users" read/write access to the image directory. I'm not sure what the virtual memory thing is, though.. Any help would be appreciated.

Web Wiz RTE doesn't natively support uploads to memory, normally web hosts disable uploading to memory, the reason being if you upload a 2Gig file to memory (this is supported with AspUpload), then you would be using 2Gig of server memory!
You may need to re-write the upload function. You should contact your web host and ask for an example, and what they do support.
See also if they support AspUpload as this is a much better upload component.

This is on my own server. It's been working fine until recently...
IS ASPUpload free? I could install it instead.

AspUpload isn't free, but it's worth the money as it is much better and less resource intensive than other upload components.

So in light of the fact that this is my own webserver, then I should be able to fix the problem, right?

I'm sorry - I should have been more clear. I'm going to have a tough time convincing the powers that be to pay for this. I'd like to fix the Dundas problem, and I figure that since I complete control over the server, I should be able to do that.
