    Posted: 08 January 2008 at 6:55am

Good morning,

when User try to register to the forum, they get the following error displayed:

"Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment:sendMail"

this happens in register.asp in this line of code:
blnSentEmail = SendMail(strEmailBody, decodeString(strUsername), decodeString(strEmail), strMainForumName, decodeString(strForumEmailAddress), strSubject, strMailComponent, false)

what is here running in the wrong way? ;-)

edit: same problems are sometimes when sending an PM and user is informed with mail.
NOTE: problem is not happening every time - but most time ;-)

This type of error would only happen if you either have a corrupted file or you have edited some of the files. Try reuploading the original files again.

As it is happening in a number of places you should update all the files with those from the latest version.

He menat the files were somehow damaged while uploaded. And in a damaged file, the contents become messed up.

if the file is damaged, i wouldn't could open it, or?

i compared the file register.asp and the only differents i saw, was the change i made, that the real name must be entered.

and this has nothing to do with sending the register mail ...

The most common course of errors is corrupted files.

Often files become corrupted during FTP altering the code by removing parts, adding parts, etc. within files.

The error you have is when the send mail function is called, so it may not be the register.asp file which has the problem, it could be one of a dozen other files which are linked to which has a corruption in it.
