Hi

We have an intermittent issue where users creating a new topic try to upload image and get a "permission denied" error. They are able to create the topic, edit and upload the pictures OK.

The issue seems intermittent so I am left scratching my head as to the cause. I also cannot replicate the issue and when I talk to users it seems to work for them. The only advice I have been able to offer to users is switch to FireFox and/or clear your cache.

Some of our users write long posts - so I wonder if some sort of permission is timing out? Any advice you may be able to offer would be most helpful.

Cheers
Craig

The upload window uses the forum session which lasts 20 minutes.

If there are issues with the server then it may last less time. If sessions are timing out to early contact your web host. You can also edit the includes/setup__options_inc.asp file and change it to have sessions stored in the database, however there is a performance hot with doing this.

It will depend on what images they are trying to upload perhaps. Example I use Windows Vista snipping tool to grab a screen image and that will not upload to the forums either. I have to open the image in photoshop and save it again as a JPG - just a thought

Also if your users are trying to upload images that are too large in KB size you will get this error as well

The Vista Snip Tool does use Adobe software to run, so like Photoshop it injects Adobe's XML into the Jpeg file.

However, Jpeg images created by the snip tool should upload without issue in the latest release. We have done lots of tests and not found any issues.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll check the server timeouts and report back.

Cheers
