Topic: Tables in Internet Explorer Posted: 07 November 2008 at 1:23pm |

Hello!
I use the Firefox browser myself, and my problem does not exist in that browser. My Admin users often use IE7 though, and the RTE system acts different in several cases, compared to Firefox
One big problem that I hope to solve this way is when someone is writing a new newsletter and uses tables inside. In Firefox you can mark one or more cells and give those cells some properties, like bg color. In IE the cells are not marked at all, and it seems like it totally misunderstand any changes made to the cells. Instead of changing bg color it inserts some spaces and twist the table.
This is only an example, it seems like the RTE components are not updated to IE7, or have some problems with IE in general?
Any suggestions what to do, especially concerning the mark of cells in tables?
Regards from Thomas aka spinoza

The RTE uses the built in RTE API of the web browser you are using.
The one built into IE is not very good and produces shocking code.
The best option is to get your admin to use Firefox when using NewsPad as it produces much better code.
Other than that it's a case of waiting to see if Microsoft have a better RTE API in IE 8.

Hi Bruce, thanx for answering my question and sorry for my late reply, the notification email first came to my inbox today. I was afraid that was the fact, so I will try to look for addons for IE to do that, or else wait for M$ to implement that in their browser. Changing to Firefox on those computers are not an option, since they are installed and limited by the state.
Thanx again! If I do find anything usable I will off course return to this thread and post it.

Microsoft if using a Beta Version of IE8 Right now.. I have been testing it out and notice that it needs some bug fixes in it right now.. I would suggest not using it at this moment as the software needs some work...

Thank you for your reply! I will look for it in the future and upgrade when a final release comes out. On the machines where I can install Firefox the newssystem works perfect, so thank you for a very nice product.
It seems like this forum "forgets" that I have checked the Email Notify me box, I try to set it again. Or maby the notification mail is whiped as spam by my provider.
