Topic: Web page format issue Posted: 03 January 2009 at 1:01am |
Hello,
I am really, really new to this whole webpage building thing, but my Dad needed me to get something up for him. I created a page using Microsoft Publisher and then uploaded it to his GoDaddy account. It comes up, but shows the page way over to the right instead of against the left like it should be. What can I do to fix this? I don't know HTML but if you can quickly tell me what kind of code to put in to fix this that would be great.
The address is: http://www.whippoorwillhillmusic.com/
We do plan on having an actual webpage developer make us a page, but we needed SOMETHING up in the mean time. If you know of a good, reasonably priced person please let me know.
Thank you very much for your help,
Bruce Thompson

Hi Bruce Firstly using Microsoft Publisher may not be the best way of creating a website, but understand that you wanted to get something up there reasonably quick. However MS Publisher is so bloated that what should be a simple page ends up being a long winded file and your actual message of what you are selling is lost You may be interested in our web design services, and you could review some of the clients similar to yourself, who have no prior knowledge of web design, by clicking this link or going directly to our own homepage

Hi,
Thank you. I will check out your site, but that still doesn't help me with my immedate problem of why this page is sitting to the far right. Is there a simple easy piece of code I can add telling it to left justify? When I look at the file in explorer it is fine, only when viewed on GoDaddy does it shoot off to the right.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Have a great day,
Bruce

When I checked back at your page, it is aligning to the left on my screen, but wherever it is sitting, its not right The coding seems so complex that I cannot offer advice on how you could actually sort it. There are various free web creation programs that you could use I'm sure that would be far better than publisher though Take a look here - its only a quick knock around, but perhaps it will help. Obviously I haven't spent long on it as it was only meant to help you, but if you have questions or would like suggestions, just let us know

its looking very bad and confusing, can try something like that, add after <body> tag <div="right"> then in the end before body close </div>
Better download some pure HTML template and then paste the content and images on it
