I have just migrated from MSSQL to MySQL and for some reason the email subscriptions to my various forums do not work.  The email settings are fine (the test email is sent correctly, and I can send emails via the forum without any problem), and if I send a private message the email notification is received.  It's just posting to the forum that seems to have a problem.

Is there a setting I have missed other than those in the email notify section of the email settings admin page?

I'm only guessing but I would assume that the previous subscriptions were tied in to postings made using the MSSQL database and I expect that the migration has not brought over those previous subscriptions

I bet if you setup a new subscription on the now forum it will work

Also, for subscriptions to work you must have users who have given valid email addresses

It's very strange because I unsubscribed and then resubscribed, but still the same problem.  Also, when I post a topic and check back to my subscriptions, the forum in which the topic is posted has been removed.

It must be a problem with the migration - I simply exported the MSSQL to MySQL but perhaps there have been some slight structual changes.  Is there a specific tool for migrating from MSSQL to MySQL for WebWiz?

I assume that you are not hosting with Web Wiz?
I think that the database schemas are very different, and I'm sure that this migration has been discussed elsewhere on these forums but it was talking about access to SQL

I think that you will find however that this is not a simple thing to do
You might do well to have stuck with one database format

Sorry....I realise that was an idiot question because there's a zip folder called "Database Upgrade Tools" in the download.  What I mean is is there any option to upgrade from an MSSQL version to a MySQL version.  It looks as though the upgrade only migrate from earlier versions to the current release, but not across platform.

I have been looking around google on this subject for you and it appears that there is software available, but how it pans out on web wiz software and its databases is an unknown equation (well to me anyway) but WebWiz Bruce who is the creator of this software may very well be able to answer the question better than me

I hope you may have made a database backup first though (your original database) so that all may not be lost. Keep us updated on this and hopefully Bruce may give you a far better answer than me

Thanks.

In fact, I used dbconvert, which is a great bit of software and it did the conversion just right.  I was running version 9.50 in MSSQL, so perhaps there are some slight differences in database structure.
