    Posted: 05 June 2009 at 9:41pm
hi,

i worked with an older version of RTE and since the last version of firefox (3.0.10) when I give an image a link, the image disappears. Just tested with the latest RTE with the same result.
I've isolated the RTE code to eliminate other code, but in firefox the same bug.

What could be causing this?

update:

Just tested the online demo at http://www.webwiz.net/webwizrichtexteditor/demo/ same bug present. My Firefox info:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

To make things stranger:
If I select an emoticon in my version of the RTE and link it afterwards, the images doesn't disappear.

Can't find the issue you mention.

When converting an image into an image link click on the image to highlight it then click the 'Insert Hyperlink' button in the toolbar.

Hi Bruce,

These steps are well known.
When the Insert Hyperlink properties are set, I click on OKE and the only thing left is a textual hyperlink. The image is completely cut out of the code.
In the mean time I tried the demo on other systems with the same FF version. The same problem occurs.

You are correct, it appears to be a bug in some of the newer Firefox 3x older versions don't seem to be affected.

It seems that the bug with Firefox will remove the image when you convert it to a link, unless the image has an 'Alt' tag.

Hopefully this bug with the Firefox RTE API will get fixed by Firefox, but until it does you can still turn an image into a link but you need to give it an 'Alt' tag before you do.

We will put in a bug report about this issue with Firefox's Midas RTE API with the Mozilla developers.
