    Posted: 16 April 2010 at 3:49pm
Hello there,

I've been reading up on web wiz forums in order to see if it would be the most suitable for an internal forum my company is looking to set up.

It looks most impressive in many regards, and together with the active directory functionality that will come with purchasing the premium version should be all that we need.

I do note that the forum needs web access in order to activate. Is there any other way of doing this? Our security protocols will not allow us to enable web access to any system running on our intranet.

You would need to have Internet access on Port 80 in order to activate the software.

Thanks for the clarification.

As a compromise, I may be able to get external port 80 access for a short period on the system in question - in order to activate. Would the port access need to be permanent, or could the port then be shut after activation?

Yes port 80 can be shut after the activation. Although some a features such as the 'check for updates' will not function, but you should be able to live without that.
