Hi,

We use our forum to host help files and so these can often not be changed for years but are still totally current.

The quick search (& Advanced search) seems to default to search last 6 months only, which often just results in no topics being matched which is very frustrating for our users.

People don't really expect to have to go in to advanced search in these google-enriched days they expect a simple search to bring up all answers.

Is there anyway to set the default config to allow Any Date as default search for all users please?

Many thanks for your help MrTWS - I suppose one workaround might be to 'touch' help-files with a small edit every year to keep them in search results.
Help much appreciated though

You could do that (as it would keep the topics within the search) - the other way (especially if these are help files) is to create a forum category entitled Help perhaps, and then move those particular files into one area - a bit like a knowledgebase category

Hiya, thanks yes we have done that but they still don't come up in the search unless the search options are changed - I think the majority of users just use quick search so it's them we're trying to help. We'll have a play with changing to an annual search & trying to keep them tweaked to appear. Thanks again for your post

You're welcome Wink
If however you have any more questions just ask - the forums are a good way of getting new ideas too.
