We're using version 10.01.

It's hard for us to upgrade, as we've modified the forum heavily (admitedly a mistake).

It's been running fine, but one bug has been plauging it for a long time now.  When you make a post, or a reply sometimes the error is thrown:

Only members with sufficient permission can access this page.
A security error has occurred with with authentication.

Or more commonly:

The "session expired" and "you don't have sufficient permission"

Is there anything I can modify myself to prevent these errors being thrown?  I've tried looking at the source but it's fairly complicated and am a little lost.

Thanks if anyone can help, it would mean a lot to our users and me!

If you navigate to another page in another browser tab, then go back to the first tab to complete the post this issue can happen as a new security code to block XSRF hacks on your forum.

Your browser should ping the forum engine to prevent this from happening and improvements in the pinging and sessions have been made since 10.01

The whole forum session system, along with pinging the forum engine, and XSRF protection is all very complex and could not be updated without updating the whole forum.

10.01 is quite old now and a whole host of new anti spam tools as well as bug fixes have been added since 10.01.

Thanks for the response, I guess upgrading is the best course of action!
