I take it this is for post notifications etc ? The settings in the link above work fine for me using CDOSYS and smtp.WebSiteLive.net as the smtp server.

my forum runs on a different host, I'm trying to get my email numanme@outlook.com working on the forum Email Settings

A search online for Outlook emails settings found the following;

    Outlook.com SMTP server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
    Outlook.com SMTP user name: Your full Outlook.com email address (not an alias)
    Outlook.com SMTP password: Your Outlook.com password
    Outlook.com SMTP port: 587 (you can use port 25 as an alternative)
    Outlook.com SMTP TLS/SSL encryption required: yes

According to this you can only use TLS/SSL encryption so you would need to use 'Persists AspEmail with TLS' as the email component, as long as your host has this available on their servers.
