what exactly do you mean kaiser? Your viewing area is set by your resolution.

if u wish to cover the whole view area in IE regardless to screen rsolution.. just set the table width to 100%..and so on depending on the percentahe of viewing area u want to cover..

Sorry, I should have been much more specific.

I was curious on the actual number of pixels for 1024X768 so the image will fill the whole window without having to scroll.

The Web design section on this page lists the pixel size for IE 4, but when I tested, it didn't seem to be exactly right for IE 6.  It could have been human error but I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.

There's no way to know that for sure, because the individual that is viewing the web page can have varying resolutions, and can have different size toolbars at the top...many factors that affect the actual viewing area.

If you want it to fit on the majority of viewing areas, don't set the width more than 780px.

if you make the background image fade and repeat into the background image it gives the effect of the image taking up the whole screen.

if you also use a vector image then depending on the complexity of it you might be able to do width and height = 100% and it looks the same
