Hello,

Could you tell me please, can we add email activation for any posts?
I mean it will be very useful to allow users with VALID emails to view restricted area...
Probably we may add some "Activated users only" permissions for some forum?

PS Also it would be useful to check email syntax to avoid mail systems' time-outs...

Thank you!
Best wishes,
Sergey

"Activated users only" - why don't you just set the permissions so that guests can't view that particular board.. then they have to join and get activated if you have email activation on..?

Yes, we can set "Registered users" for "Forum Access" and guests will have no permissions. But all registered and still NOT ACTIVATED users may view restricted forum...
Is it correct or I missed something?

Thank you!
Best wishes,
Sergey

If you want a forum that others can nopt access then you need to set up a group that only that group can access that forum.

When a user signs up they are put into the starting group, even if there account is not yet active they are placed into the starting group so you need to make the forum with permisison for another group to have access to it.

This will change in the next version so unactive accounts are still seeen as being part of the guest group.

Thank you, Bruce!
So,
- all just registered (activated or not activated) users will be placed into "Newbie" group (for example).
- I'll created separate forum with access to dedicated, private group...
But I still have to move users manually from "Newbie" to private group (when they will be activated)?

Probably I may use as workaround the following:

- create private, ladder group "Users with valid emails" with min 1 post
- assign permissions to such group

In this case only activated + have >1 post users will have permissions...

I've just been through the forum code and inactive user accounts are already set as being in the Guest group so inactive accounts should have the same privileges on the board as unlogged in guests.
