As any newbie says - I hope this is the right forum

Just installed WebWiz Forums and am trying it out. What I would really like are the following two features but I am not sure whether they exist or not. I think not but it would be useful to have this confirmed.

1) New user validation - is it possible to force every new user to have their registration validated by an administrator to keep the forum restricted?

2) Email Notification - I am using this to replace a mailing list. Is it possible for every posting to a category or whole forum to be sent to every member? It would be good if members could turn that off like the replies to their own threads.

I can't find these in the mods forum - if these are not in the developmement pipeline anyway I may try and work out how mods are done and try it myself but I think my ASP isn't as good as yours!

Ron

  1. Not exactly, but it can be done as follows:
    - Set the default starting group to, say, 'Possible Members', a group that has no permissions.
    - When a member joins, then see if you want them, if so, edit their profile and place them in the appropriate group, otherwise delete them.
  2. If they want to be notified of every post in a forum, then they can click on the 'Watch this forum for new posts' link at the bottom of that forum.

Hope this helps,

Also, take a look at this thread for more ideas about the registration.
