Topic: How about a Banner Manager? Posted: 19 September 2003 at 10:23am |
|
I'd really like to see a banner management system with online admin, etc. I've been looking all over the place for a decent one and they are very hard to find without spending some $$. Unless you just need a real basic one. I'd like one that has lots of flexibility and can handle any size/type banner, inline or pop-up or pop-under, any media type, keeps tracks of displays and clicks, can remove from rotation after a certain number of clicks or views, statistics, multi-user so I can admin it and anyone that has a banner on my site could view their statistics at any time. Ah....perchance to dream.

This is so true. I want to add a banner exchange / banner manager to my site. I looked all over. The only one written in asp that does what I need is $1195. And I didn't like that one very much. All the others in my price range were skimpy on the features and I would have to modify to get to do what I want.
I am going to go with a perl script called WebAdverts that still knocks the socks off of everyone else although I think the interface could be updated a bit. It is the only thing I have found that does everything I need. And its $50 shareware.
Too bad its not in asp. I was hoping to have an integrated login by using an asp script and SQL. Guess that's not going to happen.
If someone would build a version in asp (or any language for that matter) that did the same thing but looks better, I would be all over it.

Win2k servers has a built in add rotator (I think windows 2003 should have it too), it's pretty simple tho it just rotates banner but you can write a little asp script to record the hits on a database, you just specify the img width height border and the weight of the ad in a file...

There used to be a great program call see em click that has all the features that you mention for ASP. I downloaded it about a year ago, but it doesn't appear to be around any more.
If you are interested in it, PM me.

i counted 11 or 12 free asp banner magager scripts on hotscipts, and there are others.. try the link directory on this site and look through the classic asp links section, particularly jan asp portal.. you will find one.

Have you guys check out aspcode.net's free script AdMentor? He made one for ASP and for ASP.NET...It can handle just about anything as you can place banners in that are just graphics or you can insert HTML code (e.g. banner exchanges and I imagine pop-unders, etc.) Its what I use for the advertisements on some of my pages, especially www.dhq.nu/search/.

acctually its not as easy to find one as you'd think
i wanted one i could edit by database.... which rules out the crappy AdRotator component
looked on Hotscripts too... they was mostly rubbish the free ones, but i dunno where, but i found one which works perfect... one problem... the language of it, it isnt english, but i can still use it
it was at www.ToxicLabs.org i think (soz if i aint ment to link to anywhere borg)
