Hello there,

I just tried to do the Web Wiz tutorials regarding connecting ASP to an Access database (the Guestbook).  I went through the steps verbatim but when I try opening the guestbook.asp file to display the entries, the file opens in dreamweaver.  I tried opening it manually in IE but all I get is a blank screen.

Do I need to have anything extra installed in order to see the ASP page?  All I have right now is the database, a DSN, and the ASP page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tyler

For starters you need the Internet Information Services 4 or 5 (IIS) running on your system.

Then you have to create a Virtual Directory in your <Home> pointing to the directory where your asp files are located.

Then you can open your page in your browser using:

http://localhost/<your virtual directory>/yourpage.asp

if you need help with installing iis you can go to the asp tutorials section.. if you are runnig windows 98, you can install PWS the same way i think.. or you can upload your page to a webserver, but thats not recommended for webdeveloping as you have to upload the changed files everytime you want to seeyour work..
