    Posted: 21 November 2003 at 6:45pm

Hi guys

I am using the web wiz forum version 7 with access database and my database is about 11mb and i am getting worried that it might get corrupted because i heard that access database gives you problem after it reaches 10 mb so i would like to know if that's true and how big can it gets without giving you problem. i want to move to sql server but i don't know anything about it but i rather stay with access but i don't want the database to get slower or get corrupter, what's your advise

I say go to sql eventually!  I'm working on the easiest process on doing this hopefully I can get some step by step procedure for everyone soon!  May be you could run a compact and repair to try to shrink the database alittle bit.  I'm not sure what the best method would be?  Just a few thoughts..

Thanks

Lo

I searched the hell out of this site and still does not give a good explanation on how to do the import.  there is bits and pieces here and there but still the documentation has not been done for us newbies.  You and the other amins are pros at the forums and *asp.  as you can see the struggle I'm going through..  I'm not trying to be rude what so ever just try to understand the NEWBIES MIND

Maybe you have some answers for my above post?

Thanks

Lo

PS

After this is all said and done I'm going to create a step by step write up with screen prints on how to do this procedure and then everyone can point them there......

Well take a look at this post and see if you can help me piece together the steps on how to do this  Maybe with these posts I can write up some step by step documentation on hot to do this procedure!!!!!!!!!!!!  I found at the end when I ran the upsizing tool and created a brand new database inside of SQL then I used the 'SQL_server_connection.asp' file and pointed it to the new database and it works great!  Now the only problem is it has less stored procedures this way and I'm not sure if this is the best or fastest method on conversion????

Keep me posted on what you find out through your testing!!!!

Thanks

Lo

Try this little write up I just made.  If the administrator would like something else done to it I can add changes or if some one else would like to add let me know.  This documentation needs to be made?  There are too many newbies out there such as myself!!  Try this export method and let me know if all the 8,000 go over!!

http://www.lodogg.com/upsizing.htm

-boRg-  Let me know if this OK.  I will delete the link if you want me too.

Thanks,

Lo

Thanks for taking the time to create these instructions.  I tried them and it seemed to work for me.  When I ran the setup script, it showed a number of errors, but everything appears to be there.

Thanks again.
