    Posted: 07 January 2004 at 9:21pm

I love this forum system with the vast options, but I can't seem to get it to work right on my Web Host. I have downloaded the Acess 2000 version which my Web Host supports v7.7.

I followed the instructions, but when I uploaded it it screwed up some things on my website...I use FrontPage 2002 since I hate taking time to code...I can hand write HTML, and some C#, not much ASP (still a newb but im 14 so it doesn't matter)....

my site is: http://www.mark-hamilton.com so you can see what I'm adding it to.  I just need help to get it setup (new names of things ect.) also I am kinda lost about which page you set as the main one...

since I want to add a frame into the 'Forum Intro' page with the actual forum (looks nice then - im going to set everthing up for the Concrete skin soon).

If you have any advice or anything that would help in this that would be greatly appreciated.  Also I also need help to get my Feedback form working.  I am lost on that also.

If anyone would please take the time or energy for the help or to tell me atleast where my bug is I would THANK YOU!

I am a newb, but I have been doing HTML and JavaScript for 3 years so I know my own just is im not great with ASP (Dad got me into it: he works on the new Microsoft Search Engine coming out soon - one of the lead programmers) and he even gave me a set of like 10 books to read ALL about C# including a couple on ASP Web Design (haven't finished the one called Programming C# yet :( and its my first book started out of the 10 - he gave me a list on which to read in which order).  I just need a little help.

Also if you know how to set it up faster by having FTP support I can lend you a FTP account to add and delete or rename things to get it working better, just make sure you know what your going to put up before you log on and screw with things (thankfully I keep a record of all versions of my website on my PERSONAL computer).

I am also looking for help to get a ASP or any type of Chat Program running ( a live one ), along with a web cam thing that takes a picture of my desktop then submits it to the website.

Thanks ALOT!

If you are using frontpage this application may not work with your site as frontpage screws up asp applications.

No problem with the forum in FP2002 or 2003.

You need to "import".

Ok, Ok, I have tried soo hard and soo long I need someone to tell me what I am doing wrong...here is what I did:

  • Imported the extracted system
  • Uploaded to ftp://www.mark-hamilton.com
  • checked scripts and ran a COMPLETE reupload of the website
  • checked links, and pages which I found NO errors other then that it won't work

What did I do wrong. That is basically what you have to do for the forum (as it says in the install guide). My server is hosted at http://www.godaddy.com and it should have the ASP support that it stated that it had when I bought it. Could my host not have ASP activated even though it is a 'new' server running windows and even said ASP is included?

If anyone can help me please please help me.

EMAIL: B R A I N K I L L E R 2 6 @ M A R K - H A M I L T O N . C O M (I hate SPAM don't want people to get my email for SPAM). Thanks in advance.

In FP. create a new page and rename it testsite.asp

Open it in code view and delete all the code.

Put the following line in it

<% Response.write "I am ASP" %>

Save it and publish it to your site, then type the path into your browser and see what happens.

If you see the text, try "publishing" to the site as http://... instead of uploading to ftp://...

If you don't see the "I am ASP" text (Only), contact your web host about enabling the domains directory as an asp app.
