Im interested to know where the HTTP referer information is actualy stored?  I mean, its a server variable, but how does the server know where you just came from?

It's sent in the HTTP headers along with other information like cookies.

This code will return all the headers as one string...

response.write Request.ServerVariables("ALL_HTTP")

This code lists the headers and servervariables as individual fields.

dim strName
For Each strName In Request.ServerVariables
response.write "Server Variable " & strName &" = " & Request.ServerVariables(strName) &"<br/>"
Next

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

It's a combination of server and client. They both send information to each other. Run the code that dpyers posted. I use that as a standard for every credit card transaction that happens in an email to myself because it can help to track down fraud or criminal activity later. But that isn't relevant to your question...
