    Posted: 22 January 2004 at 10:56am

Question 1:  I am running the 7.6 SQL version of WWF.  Can I just download and install the 7.7 over the top?  I have no mods.  Should I back anything up before the updagrade?

Quesiton 2: I am using the built in IIS SMTP server on same server I run my WWF and website.  The SMTP works fine for all other programs, except WWF.  I have my settings as "CDOSYS" and "rickenbacker.mydomain.com" for the smtp server.  I have retested my SMTP using a Telnet session and I do received the email externally, but when WWF tries to send an email, it fails and the event log shows:

"Message delivery to the remote domain 'mydomain.com' failed for the following reason: Unable to deliver the message because the destination address was misconfigured as a mail loop."

Any ideas?  I love this program, but I just cannot get the email portion to work with WWF.  Thanks for all your efforts.

1. Just overwrite the old files.

2. Not really sure the problem, check with your hosting company, it could be a problem with the email address you are trying to send to.

Thanks.  I'll get the update downloaded and installed.

Do I have to do something else besides just overwrite the files?  When I unzip the files for the new version over my existing files, then go to my forums, I get a "page cannot be displayed",

  • Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
    Invalid authorization specification
    /forum/common.asp, line 260

(Thank goodness I backed up my forums directory first.)

  • I copied my backup directory back to the original location and the server came right back up.

    Thanks for any other ideas.

You need to re-enter the details of your SQL server into the SQL_server_conection.asp file in the admin area.

I got it working.  I opened the backed up copy of SQL_server_connection.asp in notepad, looked at my old settings, then edited the same file from the new version and it came right up.

Thanks again for all your effort.
