	Help I cant get the forum to work . The error message is Provider error '80040e4d' Authentication failed. /forum/common.asp, line 257 Any ideas?

	What version of the forum are you using? It maybe worth checking with your hosts about any permisisons they require.

	Im using 7.7 This is the line the problem is 'Set an active connection to the Connection object adoCon.Open My database is stored in the db folder which is outside the root directory- could this be the problem? Ive checked with my ISP and the run all the right software Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. .

	The error seuugests some sort of permissions problem, the access database shouldn't have any passwords on it, so authentication isn't required. I would get onto your web hosts about this as it looks like they have got a problem with the server.

	Ok the forum pages are displaying now and i can add a new user which updates the database but when i try to create a forym category i get this message Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09' Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. /forum/admin/category_details.asp, line 82 Ive confirmed with my isp that the permissions are readable and writeable. Any ideas ?? THANKS

	This is deffinetly, 100%, a permissions error and you don't have permisison to write to the database in the folder your database is in. Also check that the read only attribute isn't set on the forums database before uploading it by doing right click on the db and selecting properties.
