Topic: Mass Emails? Posted: 15 June 2004 at 11:06am |

On one of my sites I offer free software. For a while, I was requiring people to register in order to download the software...Then I dropped that and am now just taking voluntary subscriptions. Anyways, altogether I now have an email list of approximately 2,800 individuals...But I can't ever send anything to it. I made the somewhat stupid mistake of using a simple form to process the emails which then sent me an email with their info. I saved all their addresses in an address book in Pegasus. But when I try to send an email I get a report back that I am trying to send an email to too many people at once. I heard that this meant that my ISP was blocking the email (to prevent SPAM I'm guessing). Is there a way to get around this? Does anyone use Pegasus and know how to perhaps export Pegasus Address Books into a better program? Any help would be appreciated. And no, I'm not gonna spam them...Its just for the games newsletter. Respectfully, David.

The problem's not with the mail client, it's with the ISP. What you need is an smtp server on your local pc that'll batch the emails into small groups and send them a group at a time.
You may want to look at http://www.postcastserver.com/ Haven't used it, but it looked interesting enough to bookmark.

Check out the one at Lencom.com as well - it is REALLY good. SQL Server integration... Lots of toys.
