Suggest a solution - for a newbie

Hello everyone,

I'm an absolute novice with regard to ASP/PHP. I have a website for my classmates from college. It has a bio section with over 150 pages. I'm considering using an automated system which gathers data from a database in the server. I guess I need to use ASP/PHP for it. I don't know which one is better. And I don't have even a clue where to start.

I would like to do these as well - Password protect these bio pages. I hope to make each of my classmates as username and password with which they can log into the website. They should also be able to modify their bios. Master control should also be present for the webmaster. This is what I aim to achieve.

I hope someone can suggest something to me.
