Topic: Most Useful ASP Apps Posted: 16 August 2004 at 11:24am |
What ASP applications do you find to be the most useful? Included can be commercial apps like ASPUpload, or custom scripts found off of PLanet-Source-code.com etc.

I use the "Total Email Validation" script by Lewis Moten on every asp site. http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?tx tCodeId=6280&lngWId=4
Does the most thorough job of vaidation of any script I've come across, and is really simple to use - e.g. If IsEmail(account@domain.com) Then ...

lol - very true, but on the plus side, it checks for more conditions than most validation routines and it's easy to modify. When I modify an RE, it takes be hours to get it right

I found ASP Jpg pretty good and ASP Upload. All of Persists stuff
is pretty neat. Also recently tried XDE's spellcheck component
which works a wonder once you sift through all the confusing documents.

Was XDE the one you finally settled on? Did it have a thesaurus as well?

XDE's spellcheck was what we went for in the end, it's spellcheck is great.
Customer support was slow, had to speed things up with a phone call
after waiting a week for an email, to find that the thesaurus they
advertised ran on MS-Word and needed it to be installed on the server,
which even they recommended I didn't use because it was so slow.
A bit cheeky if you advertise it in product description.
