I am starting an online forum and was wondering what differences or advantages are between Access and MS SQL.  I am familiar with Access but have never used MS SQL.

I already have Access 2003.  If I was to use MS SQL how much would it cost?

If I start the forum with Access is there anyway to convert the database to MS SQL later on?

Access is fine for small forums where user traffic will not be heavy.

yes. you or your MSSQL host can do it!

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I personally would recommened MS SQL Server everytime as a backend for a forum, no matter what size of forum you have, as Access has to many limitations.

I agree on starting off with MS SQL Server when in doubt. However, you can also [ read my reply ] for some more insight into Access on the same subject, which has been discussed over and over and over.....
