I want to ban a member from the forum and I can do that via the IP banning function.  But how do I determine the member's IP address?

Assuming you are an admin, then you can go to any post that the user has made and you should see the IP address. You can then ban that IP address in the admin module.

Be aware, that if the user is on a dynamic IP then this will only be a temporary measure. Most internet users are on dynamic IP's, even broadband users. Banning an IP address for an individual user is a temp measure that could result in penalizing someone else should they have the same IP.

Also, the user could then use a proxy server or random proxy service to avoid the IP ban. Also, the user could just use another pc with another ISP to avoid it.
