Topic: Getting more Traffic Posted: 04 November 2004 at 9:18am |
ok, theres a lot of experience in this forum of web design and maintenance. I'm just wondering what the best way of getting a higher traffic count would be.
I am running a few websites, mainly motorcycle ones. I don't want to go round other sites posting spam as it wud annoy me if someone did it to my site.
Any advice from you experts would be highly appreciated.

Use tasteful links to your forum in your signature on the other sites. Fairly unobtrusive and allowed by most forums. As those forums get indexed by searchbots, your links will be discovered and your page rank will increase.

If I knew that, I'd be on the beach in Tahiti instead of talking to you - lol
Seriously though, the only thing I know for sure is that the algorithm's change. news:alt.internet.search-engines is usually a pretty good usenet resource that will lead to some good pages. Getting listed in DMOZ also helps.

DMOZ? |
dmoz.org - Open Directory Project. Used a a primary source by almost all search engines. Each site submitted is manually reviewed, rated and classified by volunteers. Takes a long time to be listed as a result - in some categories, it can take 2-3 years.

All se's use forumulas to determine what pages are most important for a given set of search terms. The formula's are constantly being tweaked
