Hey Guys
I am trying to run a sponsor banner on my front page. The thing is he has given me an swf file. I have inlcuded it in my header file but it won't run. I have also seen some talk of swf files being security risks.
Is this true? What would be my best solution?
Thanks
Brad
Oh and I think the new mailing list version rocks.

Have you included correctly.

Flash files will not run like a normal image file. In many browsers they have to be included as an object.

to add a SWF to a page you need the following

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codeba se="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/ swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="32" height="32">
  <param name="movie" value="path to SWF">
  <param name="quality" value="high">
  <embed src="path to SWF" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/ge tflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="32" height="32"></embed>
</object>

I have done all that but still no joy. The banner runs in a normal html page but not the header.asp.
Any ideas?

You seem to have it sorted now.
I'm not a big fan of flash banners but I thought it was cool the way the top part of the flash banner loaded before the rest of the forum after I hit the forum link on your home page.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Ok I sorted it and it was just wrong path in the header.asp file. (ahem, embarassed grin)
The path must be relative to the default.asp file not the header.asp file in the includes directory

and yeah the delay is a bonus for the sponsor. Is there a way to delay the loading so that can be controlled? We could hook a few more advertisers with a 'You get shown berfore everything else' angle. Interesting.Clap
Sorry for all the fuss and thanks for all the help
