I'm currently using HTMLarea as my text editor. It works well but only on IE on a PC. RTE is cleaner and much easier to integrate. One feature that I'd love to see integrated into RTE is the ability to add templates or html blocks "into" the editor such as shown here:

in the Webstation One version of HTMLarea. Is it possible to adapt this function?

That link you have is a bit confusing as it doesn't really explain what is meant by template and how they are applied.

However, in version 3 you can take a pre-existing textarea and have to changed into an RTE textarea with whatever data is in the textarea passed over to the RTE, so you could pre-fill your textarea with your template.

Thanks for the quick response. This link might be a little clearer. It's actually a link to a demo editor.

When you select the template button(13th from the left, center row) a popup lets yoiu select from thumbnails and actually load "a block of html" or a template. This way the end user has a choice of a few different layouts to start from.

Preloading the text area would offer them 1 layout, and is an option but the multiple layout choices works very nicely

Best,

I see now, in many ways the Insert Template from the demo in the link is very simular to the 'Open File' already found in the Web Wiz RTE.

You could very easily convert the 'Open File' part of the RTE to open your templates, or even leave it how it is and just open the file (your template) in the RTE.

Thanks. I've looked into that and I should be able to work it out( I'm not a programmer but can usually twist & mangle code already written).

Best.
