for some reason i am getting a "CL error when i try attaching to old post...so trying here (thank god for copy/paste)
i have exchange running on the webserv and keep getting this issue

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046'
Permission denied
/forums/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 182
I have tried changing the security settings, and found nothing to work (currently read/write/exicute scripts)

i have tried localhost and the servername, as well as the internal and external IP's i am pretty much at a lost here... i have also tried relaying settings (from previous post/fixes) i have the latest version of WWF and SP3 (exchange) and all updates for 2000server.

I have searched and tried all the other things but still getting permission denided when using cdonts...
any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Phil

The permission denied error with CDONTS usually means that you need to set permissions for 'everybody' to write to the following directory:-

C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Queue

Try on the:-

C:\Inetpub\mailroot\

With inheritable permssions for everybody to write and modify these directories.

Well what I suggest usually fixes the permission problem with CDONTS otherwise I just don't knwo what the problem could be.

Try doing a search on Google and MSDN for permission errors with CDONTS.

well, i checked Microsoft and didn't find anything that was helpful (tried their "workarounds") however, i got it working...should have thought of this before... this is how i fixed it, incase anyone else has the same issue.

if your provider has an smtp server
you can try to use that on CDOSYS with the server's name.
i then set my other info the same as the exchange server (such as my from address, this way reply's come to the exchange server)

most smtp servers will not allow you to send mail unless you are actually connected to them (to help cut down spam) however, since you ARE connected to the provider they let it go out...and everything works...
i thank you for all your help though and love the forums they are running wonderfully!

thanks again
