First, I want to say I like WWG stuffs very much and planning to integrate a site with all wwg, especially the forum. Im even developing a framework so as soon as the final forum is out, i'd just plug it in and rock. And I'll contribute to compensate for borg's hard work. No doubt.

But WWF is best run on MS SQL if I ever hope to launch a successful (busy) site. But MS SQL is too expensive to afford for a hobby site. Access runs slow. So, I'd like to know if any WWF users know any good CHEAP ASP/MS SQL host (sorry, GearHost costs too much) or I'll be forced to join other camps (php, mysql and stuffs) which I hate to do.

PM me if these moderators don't allow giving other host names.

Thanks

boy

Sure?

Have you tried Access 2000 with lots of users... don't right it off too quickly... Why not wait til you are busy, then advertise in your forum for anyone who can supply a lil' MS SQL on the side in return for promotion...

Seriously I have seen some heavy sites run off Web Wizs access back end... take a look at www.AffordableSupplements.co.uk/forum

www.PaintDoodles.co.uk/Forum as well...

See..! It takes a while before Access even struggles (as long as it is 2000)...  and your host is good! BTW I am about to upgrade one of them to MS SQL though... LOL

you guys' forums run at ok (bear-able) speeds. But why takes so long at the very first access?

I was just being ambitious and looking out for the future.

Getting the users to contribute $$$ for an SQL is a nice strat though.

you get what you pay for.  no more and no less.  i would think twice about Gearhost. (i've never been happier with a webhost.)  your not only getting way more then your money's worth, but you're helping Borg as well since he's getting the referral credit.

*sigh* you're right. it's much better on t1. I dont' know, I still think Access is a joke for a long term goal.

Do we have the option to trim the db?
