This may take some time depending on the speed of the mail server and how many email's there are to send. < name=frmSent>There are < size=4 value=1 name=sent> email's sent out of a total of 4 < langauge="">document.frmSent.sent.value = 1;

Persits.MailSender.4 error '800a0006'

550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for mattias.nordin@xxx.se

I am trying to configure the forum to use the persits AspEmail module for sending e-mail. The component is installed.
 
1) What am i supposed to enter as a outgoing smtp server? Localhost is the current data.
 
2) What is the error message above?

That's a problem with your SMTP server, you need to configure it to allow relaying... but make sure you don't make it an "open relay" where anyone can relay via your server

I am aware of the danger with open relaying (spamissues) but i can't find any settings to change.Dead
 
The forum is installed on:
 
Windows 2003 server
IIS 6.0
All windows updates
Persits AspEmail
 

An attempt to send email via a secured SMTP server may result in run-time errors such as

550 Relaying Denied

 
But i doesn't say how to configure it... Dead

I don't have access to an external smtp server. How do i solve this ????

localhost should still be considered as external, I think that means external to the component... i.e there is not an smtp server embedded

I followed the following guide to configure the build in smtp server in windows 2003 server. And it works fine now.
