I have done lots of searching on these forums, and have tried lots of things that have been recommended to fix my problem, with no avail.

Soooo, here it goes...

I just installed WebWiz forums (access edition) on a Windows 2003 server, running IIS6.  After I installed the forums, I got the .asp functionality working.  Then I moved the database to c:\ForumWizWebDatabase.  I then edited both common.asp files with the following line

strDbPathAndName = "C:\ForumWizWebDatabase\wwForum.mdb"

When I try to log in as "Administrator" with the default of "letmein" for the password I get a pop-up window that states "Sorry the username, or password entered is incorrect.  Please try again."

I have checked my cookies and they are being allowed.  I have also re-copied all the files over to the server again.  I have even tried a different web browser (Firefox) and it has the same results.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix this.

The only thing I can think is that the username and password has been changed in the database.

Try re-downloading web wiz forums and re-uploading a fresh database to your web server.

Also, check when you edited the common.asp files that you didn't disable encrypted passwords.

Sorry, I've just noticed that you are using dynamic DNS.

This type of thing, along with frames, IP/domain masking, forwarding, etc. will prevent browsers from setting and reading back in cookies.

Thank you for the repsonse.

I ended up fixing it by replacing the database with the original database (from the zip file)   I then logged into the forum using the ip address rather than the dynamic address.

Thank you again for the help!  Tongue

Having a similar problem - using version 6.26. But have been using this for some time. Had my own password to log in as administrator, and then suddenly this morning it didn't work - and neither did the default log in, so I can't access any of the administration stuff. Help!

do you mean you can't access the forum or anything at all using the admin account.

as its V6.26, firstly i would recommend upgrading as of the security issues.

but as V6.x didn't have encryption look in the database and see what the username and password are set to.

are you on a local network or webhost ..

checking the username and password would also see if its a hack or not.

We can't get in at all - logging in as an administrator was the only way we could access the database!

do you get any server errors or anything when accessing the forum

you may want to try a Compact & Repair on the database

also look within the author table and check the password and change it that way to something else.
