good and free is an oxymoron in a lot of cases. I can not recommend any free ones as I am very happy with Microsoft Virtual PC 2005. It's cheap and works awesome.

I've never tried VPC but I use VMWare, and if you use it it's worth a buy. There is a free virtual pc like system that lets you run linux but I've forgot it's nameConfused I'll let you know if I remember

basically it is a virtual pcLOL It lets you install linux and other operating systems "inside" your current OS, all you need is a host operatin system and a copy of some VPC software and you can install OS's inside the host OS... i.e. inside my XP professional I have another version of XP PRO running so I can beta test VS.net 2005 etc. safely and I also have a couple of linux OS's installed just for the hell of it
