I convert from older version 6.X couple of weeks ago - no problem.
Now I get this:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e21'
The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again.
/forum/post_message.asp, line 756

***********
(duplicate values in the index???)  I get this error when trying to create a new posting.  No changes were made to the forum and I have no idea why it started acting up.  Funny thing is that sometimes it will work and sometimes not.

Sounds like your access database is corrupted.

Download the database, open it in Access, and use the 'compact and repair tool' found in the 'Tools' menu of MS Access.

This topic was for the 6.x version which doesn't have the compact and repair toll built into the admin section.

I guess as you have it built in you must be using a 7.5 + version.

The version from the admin area should work much the same as when you download and run it from Access, but it's worth giving it ago anyway.

If your forum has more than a handful of users I try to get people to use the MS SQL Server version, as Access often becomes corrupted, and often can not be recovered.

If you must use the Access version I would make daily backups just for this reason.

:-(

After repairing the database via the administration section, downloading the file and repairing it in access and even deleting a lot of threats and repairing again, i get the same error message....

Arghhh!!!!

The thing is that i see the threat created, but no messages in it... I see the old messages, but the news, no...

I could not get the MS SQL Server version because i don't have license... :-(

Anyway, i think it's not a problem of the database... 352 topics, 4860 posts and 2001 members... 316 private messages.

I have just make members maintenance... 1500 now. :-)

The error message is :

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e21'

The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again.

/forum/post_message.asp, line 756

PLEASE, HELP !!!! :-)

48,000 posts and 1,500 members is allot for Access to cope with when it comes forum systems as they put so much pressure on the database. I usually recomend people move across to MS SQL Server at around 8,000 posts max.

Access was built as a desktop application and simply can not cope with heavy use, like for a web sites forum.

It could be that the database is busted beyond repair.

Have a look at www.webwiz.net we can give you hosting with MS SQL Server support for as little as $6.95 per month.

But it's not 48000 but 4.800 !!! (now reduced to 2396)... users has also reduced to 1.400...

It's very weird because with version 6.0 there was no problem (i update the last week)... Maybe there's a problem with the database converter... :-(

I hope not !!! :-)

I just tried to add a message to a topic already created and i got this message :

Error de Microsoft VBScript en tiempo de ejecución error '800a000d'

No coinciden los tipos: 'strFromEmailName.FromName'

/forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 251

After this mesage, i got the usual one :-(

Cry my forums... Cry
