Just downloaded it this morning after noticing on the BBC website that it has now been released, this uses both firefox and Internet Explorer technology (as part of the lawsuit between AOL/ Microsoft AOL have access to IE code for some 7 years).

For me this does look to be a damn good browser. Being able to flip from MSIE and Firefox is something I require as a coder so that I can see just how well my cross browser javascript works (or in most cases doesn't work in firefox).

To have both browsers in one with the additional plus of the added security features of netscape/firefox, this for me is the new browser I will be using. This is definately a dream browser for a coder.

Download it today. Its absolutely amazing and totally useful.

I did download the beta version some time ago but I didn't like it as I found it very clunky with far to much stuff and have stuck with Firefox.

I will try the new full release and see if that is better.

However, I do feel it has a place, with those with little skill on the Internet as it is far more secure and should hopefully help protect Internet newbies.

Couldn't agree more. It's seamless switching from firefox to IE is what sold me on it though. Tabbed browsing in IE ? Amazing and enough to leave my taskbar tidier than its been in ages.

It has a place for those of us who only use IE also. I did a little security test on it yesterday and went to the site where a virus magically appeared on my computer and IE caught it again but NS8 simply switched from IE view to Firefox and that spit everything out.

That's what I call a smart browser !

It really isnt worth it. It is really total bloatware.

The original 8 release what based on IE and FF 1.0.3

However the firefox devs complained that is lacked the security updates in ff 1.0.4 so they had to bring out a new version a day after the release.

The latest version is now Netscape 8.0.1
