I run about three different instances of the forum with mild version differences for different people, I dont charge for the service I think I am above board....

I done a few searches but have come up clueless so if anyone is feeling generous and wants to reply to some of these queries then please feel free to point out where I am going wrong.

I work at a univerisity full time and part of a project is to intergrate a forum with some sort of CRM (customer-relationship-management)
  1. I am currently running version 7.9 I see that there is a slight mod to the 7.92 should I just upgrade the software and leave the mdb files as is or have I missed some thing about the upgrade path?
  2. Can I use the authentication system to cover other web pages within the site?  I have got a feeling I think I know how to do this but if there is a *proper* Method then I am all ears
  3. I wrote a simple content Management system which incorporates the RTE editor, if I want to include the forums as part of a website and use the auth sections is should I still be able to pull  in the RTE editor too.
  4. Skinning, I want to re-skin the system and have seen what some people have done,  I am using a fixed width layout and was wondering if there any plans to totally go the CSS route in the future
  5. We want people not to be able to register themselves but get registered through our CRM system ( which is access at the moment)  COuld I Create a linked field in the CRM access and pull in the user data from there and block access to the profiles section.  We have users who role it will be to create the user accounts.  but we already store plenty of information in the crm system which could be used to populate the users table,

I think thats enough for now, If anyone has any thoughts or experience then please feel free to get in touch or reply, I've got the email notify enabled and this is a sort of pressing matter.

1. to upgrade from V7.9 you need ot replace the following files ONLY

- functions/functions_filters.asp
- post_message.asp

2. yes its possible. you may want to have alot at www.breathofair.co.uk/asp/applications/login

this is a login manager that is fully cobpatible with WWF, allowing you to use the forum system and the login manager with the same details (logged in to one , logged into both).

3. showld be able ot use the editor. is it seperate from the forum one? if so then yes.

4.there is no plans as yet but as V8 is in developpment it maybe incorperated, but not sure.

you can use set widths within the skin.asp file

5. i think with a few tweaks you showld be able to.

im not sure what your level is with asp etc?
