Our site is run on an old PC w/Win98 using Frontpage. I'm considering upgrading to a new PC w/XP Pro and will continue using Frontpage. This PC is dedicated to running our website though we may want to consider running a web calendaring system as well. Can that be done with this set up (if so, any calendaring software recommendations?)
We don't have a sys admin (just a chick...me...who knows enough to be dangerous, but is always willing to learn), we don't have a server, and I only have minimal time to devote to web duties each day (my real job is in budget/mgmt). The boss doesn't necessarily want to get into a full scale server. I understand there is a 10 concurrent user limit if I run IIS on XP Pro. I assume the user limit goes away if I run real server software (i.e. Windows Server 2003, web edition), right?
Our site is static now, but we'd like to be able to post forms, links to databases, and maybe even music/video clips. Can I do that with our current setup or do I really need to go the server route? The PC I'm considering is a Dell Dimension 8250 with lots of bells & whistles.
Thanks for any advice you can provide.
