I know its an http error, but its something that cropped up while a workmate was trying out the wwgf asp tute, and thought it was likely something to do with the setup for asp.
anyhoo: new toshiba 730 laptop with xp pro, iis newly installed. the 'hello world' and server time asp works fine. trying to load the asp from the first part of the guestbook tute spits a 401.3 error.
from the cryptic reference in the error message (access denied by acl on resource) i figured it had something to do with priviledges for the wwwroot folder, so i check that iusr_tosh730 (tosh730 being the mahine name) has access to the folder and all files within. it does. i google the 401.3 error and a number of sites confirm that its a ntfs priv.s issue, so i go back and and COMPLETELY open up the wwwroot folder to iusr, giving it full permissions. still we get the error...
is there any hidden permissions setting that i need to change as well as everything else. The reason i'm really stumped is because ages past when i did the tute on another computer, i didn't get said error. did i just get lucky with the right mix of settings? or is there something sus with this toshy?
