My poor inbox - reply notifications

Please help, my users are going nuts.  We have all disabled our "Notify me of replies to posts" options but we continue to get message after message.  What gives?
 
That being said I also can't get the new user verification email to be sent out, it says it sent it but it never manages to go out. 
 
My poor inbox is getting killed.

Open the tblEmailNotification table in the database and delete all entries within that table, this should stop anymore emails from comming through.

I had the same problem - It seemed to take a couple of days for the Emails to stop coming through, after I had turned the feature off.
Don't worry - They'll stop !!

If that is the case, it could be that the mail server you are using has queued up older emails.
