I have a server machine in US
I want to connect to that machine using the IP address and port 80

I want to type in the IP address in the IE browser and it should take my to that machine.
where I log in
and use applications on the intranet there

how do I go about it .

80 is the default port for http so running applications might be a little problem. if there are applications installed on that machine that you want to use, (if they are static) then use something like Terminal Services or Metaframe....

try using the port 8080 also.. and make sure u have acces to the server machine via terminal servives, symantec py anywhere.. etc etc

If you've got XP (Pro), you can use remote desktop to access your PC through port 80.

There are other apps (free) that act like PC Anywhere that you can use over HTTP, although not necessarily secure..

http://www.tightvnc.com/ is quite good.

If you're using windows 2000 I think you can configure telnet to listen on port 80 (unless you already got a webserver running).
Telnet isn't really secure tho.
