Next time please read the FAQ's or search for your answer before posting a new topic. This error has been fixed many times.

Tell your web hosting provider to give your database write permissions.

okay so as far as your concerned and Im concered, what ever computer you run the forums off of you can't ever transfer host right?  is this is the fact hen whats the use of your forums unless its a permanet server?  which couldnt be for everyone host will most likely change and resulting to your users a crashed forum and start over using your forums right?

Brian -

Make sure that the directory in which your database resides has 'write' permissions. It is very common, in web server environments, for the directories to be 'read only' for browsers. The error you described almost always indicates that the database is located in one of those 'read only' directories. The webmaster/administrator must manually designate the directory as 'read/write' for the database to be updateable.
