Hi

I have recently uploaded a new forum onto my server but i am having a numbe rof problems.

One being the cdate issue which i have read about on other posts and will use them.

The other is the following when trying to administrate my forum:

"Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'

Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

/messageboard/admin/change_admin_username.asp, line 173"

I take it something is read-ony but which file would this be.  Ive checked the files from the folder i uploaded them from and non seem to be read-only.

you need to make sure the database is in a folder that has read/write and modify permissions on it.

else you will get those errors.

this is the same reason (as i said before about not having the right permissions)

as AOL and IE use the same cookies the update command is not triggered, and when you go into FF, it uses different cookie system and the last time you visited is triggered that updates the database.

once the database/folder has the right permissions it will be ok.

do you have a online ftp manager, like webshell or simular, as you are able to change the permissions within programs like that.

but that will sort it.

do you not have a folder by default for this, or are you able ot put it outside the websites root folder
