Hi, I don't really understand .asp at all but have managed to work out how to contain my forum in tables etc and sort out navigation. I would like to have the latest 10 forum posts showing on my front page outside the forum (within a template..) Is there a way of doing this, I'm using an access db.

Thanks

Ade

I'd just like to add, that I've spent the last few nights using every example given on these forums for the last 10 posts / topics too.

Closest I got yet was MrM's from his thread (at least the table and column headers displayed).. BUT I get the exact same error as matey above me.

Surely we can't be the only 2?

8.05 and MSSQL for me.

Can anyone help?? I'm an ASP plonkey donkey as well LOL but have used quite a few mods successfully from on here. Just this one holding me back from launching our new forums.

Our current forum using a 7.XX WWF install and with an IportalX portal, has the 10 topic thing working fine.. But no way with our latest forum am I using that e that Drew and his guys knock out.

Throw us a bone guys please.

Many thanks,
Shaun

I had that same error numerous times when I tried it. I searched and searched and couldn't find any answer. Anyhow, I finally re-copied the same one and tried it again ... and it worked. All I can figure is that some odd character must have gotten in the first few times I copied it. Make sure you're using a plain text editor to copy it into.

Make sure you follow the instructions properly. The last paragraph before the main code is where you're going wrong:

Quote You can also use this file to show the Most Recent posts on your forum default page. Depending on where you put the include, you might need to comment out the "Call closeDatabase" command. An example of when you would need to do this is if you placed the MRP panel before the What's Going On? panel.
