or you could just quite simply rename and/or move it to a different folder

even better put above (or below ... cant remember how it is) the web files

eg: your site is
e:\mysite\wwroot

put ya database in
e:\mysite\private

and its (as far as i know) un-downloadable (from the web - ya can still get to it from FTP of course :P)

(Note: Brinkster users.. you can only rename your database)

if you know the name of the *mdb database you cand download it! but the most of hosting sevices offer a special root wher you can put your database and it can't be downloaded!

It does explain all this in the documentation that comes with the forum, including step by step instructions, but most people are just simply to lazy.

Web hosts can also setup in the IIS management consol to not allow .mdb files to be downloaded via HTTP, but 99.9% of hosts don't setup this simple security measure.

as i see it, if your going to *waste* your time renaming it to *.asp

then ya might as well go all out and move the database (if possable)

so if people cant be bothered to move it, then they wont rename it to .asp

umm i dont think ANY one said anything about REmoving.. i said Moving, but thats about as close as i can see...

to be honest, (no offence but...) i dont see much point to this thread..

like BoRg said, its all in the Documentation, and if people dont take the advice of moving and renaming then i guess its up to them
