Hi,
I've had version 7.6 of the forum for a while, and in the beginning it worked fine (most of the time, anyway). But now, I get errors: when a person wants to become a member, the security code won't show correctly, even though it has worked before, and I have not moved _anything_. And if the code does show correctly, the new user either gets and "sorry, only mebers with sufficient permission can access this page" or an error-page (don't remeber which...and it doesn't really matter, becasue the user DO get registered int that case).
And when I, as an admin, try to change a members details and rank I get an "sorry, only mebers with sufficient permission can access this page" as well. hmm!! It gets _really_ frustrating because I have deleted all of my temporary internet files, and I'm allowing all cookies. I just don't know what's going wrong.

And, btw, I've downloaded the new version (7.9), but that didn't help - now I get the "sorry, only mebers with sufficient permission can access this page"-message when i try to log-in with the default administrator-login. I've deleted the forum from my server, and re-uploaded it a couple of times, but it doesn't change anything...

And well, if I get the new forum to work, how do I transfer my old members to it?

I really hope someone can help. It would be much appreciated :)

//Karen

The same database is used for all version 7.x so you don't need to transfer members just use your old database.

A link to your forum my help find what the problem is.

Often problems that you mention are coursed by other applications on the site that use session.abandon, (chat applications often use this) when session abandon is used anywhere on your site login, security code, etc. data for the forum is also dropped coursing problems like you describe.

That would be the 7.9 version, where I haven't changed anything (I hope...) Så you could just try to login with the default admin, and if that works...then try making a new account, if you don't mind wasting your time helping me *lol*

I had a look at your site and found that every few secounds a new cookie was set on my machine with a new ASP Session ID.

This suggests that the fault is with your server.

Either an application on your site is using session.abandon and resetting the ASP Session or there is an issue with the server.

Well, I don't have any chats or anything on my site, and I don't think there is on any of the other sites hosted on the server either.

But thanks for finding that fault :) I'll tell my server-admin, and see what he can do. And if he can't find any faults...i guess i'll post again *LOL*

Ask them to check the default session timeout for the server is set at 20 minutes.
