Come on you clever people, especially you moderators who are the font of ALL knowledge Big smile !!

My newly installed SQL forum will not let me into the admin to get the thing set up and going.  Everything went fine, SQL database setup, SQL query string correct etc. etc. etc.  but... when i log in as Administrator I can change my own personal profile, but when I click the "ADMIN" button, I get this:

error '80020009'

/forum/admin/common.asp, line 323

PLEASE can someone help.  I can't beleive no one has a solution.

have you got more details about the error message or is that it.

also can you post whats on that line, it might be a connection error or something.

also try re uploading the forum files as they may have become corrupt.

First thing I did was to re-upload the files / pages just in case.  the lines from admin/common.asp read as follows

(Line 323 down to line 336)
If Cbool(rsCommon("L_Code")) = true and Session("blnLicense") = false Then

 'Clean up
 rsCommon.Close
 Set rsCommon = Nothing
 adoCon.Close
 Set adoCon = Nothing

 'Redirect
 Response.Redirect "webwizforums_license.asp"
End If
'Clean up
rsCommon.Close

I haven't made modifications or anything to the script, just unzipped it, uploaded it and away I went.  If I go direct to the page "webwizforums_license.asp" and click accept, it gives me the exact same error message.

Can't figure it out.

looking on MS

it seems to be talking about connection settings, make sure your settings are correct in the sql_server_connection.asp and the admin/common.asp file. making sure you are trying to coinnect to the sql server.

is weird.

By all means, try it for yourself...

Like I said, the connection string is corect otherwise it would not let me change the profile settings for the one user i have ie me as admin.

----edit ----
username and password deleted Smile
---- /edit---

i have a "test" user in there too and i have literally JUST changed the Administrator pwd back to letmein for your use so I know the connection string to the SQL server is perfect.

have you tried downloading the files again from WWG.

also try creating a complete new version , starting from scratch. if that doesn't help im out of ideas. i think there was the same problem posted on the forums somewhere... within the past few days.
