If you simply must use mySQL, then you should try phpBB forums.
However, I've used it before and compared to the features of WWG, I
prefer WWG anyday. There are several of us here that have hosting and
offer MS SQL and mySQL, including -borg-'s
hosting company
that hosts this forum. I'd suggest looking at several that are in the
signatures around here as well as -borg-'s. Compare features and price
and see if you can maybe change hosts.
As a side note, if your current host supports MS Access, you may
consider testing the forum out with Access. Although you should
seriously consider migrating to MS SQL for a busy forum, that would at
least give you a way to test out WWG.
If you need a forum to try, I'll be glad to setup an Access one for you
to fully test on my site. You could also install IIS and test on your
local pc (if on Win2k Pro, XP Pro, or Win9x with PWS) using Access or
download the
MSDE to test out a SQL Server version.
