Is there any way to detect what the home page of the visitor is?

For example if he/she has yahoo.com as her/his homepage I want to display "your home page is "…", like what we do it for user's IP.

No there is not. And if someone could, it would be a very big security/privacy issue!

Oh, i'm sure there's a way, but it'd effectively be a hac onto someone's computer... and i doubt whatever way there is uses asp... or any other standard web language either...

The IP display is easy because it just looks at the outside of their computer, wheras the homepage check would have to actually go inside the pc and track down the file where teir browser holds the homepage details.

Simply put, it'd take a lot more work than any possible gain from someone saying 'hey, cute, they know my homepage"

<grins evily>

Well, if the spyware coding morons can do it, then I'm sure you can code an ActiveX app and get some IE-using sucker to fall for a link to download spyware/malware on their pc. You could then manipulate IE in any way you wanted to do what you wanted such as making a querystring call to your website where you could log what you needed.

Of course, the geeks and all the others using FireFox, Opera, and other non-IE browsers and those running Linux or Mac systems would be not be affected by your exploits, BUT on the upside you could potentially get 80% of the surfers to your site.Wink

..oh yeah...we'd shun you here on the forum so you would have to weigh that against the benefits of knowing their homepage.
