is it possible to read some data from the com-port using asp.net or general asp?? possibly thru some sort of component...

not to forget. it has to be on the client side of the page and NOT on the serverside

kodak uses a component to download pics directly off your camera so i guess it's out there. basically it installed a little active x control which pusched the pics in that case.
